David F. "Dave" Davis, Sr., 76, of Sandusky, left this world early Friday evening, April 13, 2012, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness. Dave will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Born on March 6, 1936 in Sandusky, the son of the late Kenneth Lance and Mary Ann (Kerber) Davis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. Dave had worked at Sandusky Dressed Beef for 30 years before it had closed. He had also worked at the former Strengs Service Center, Krogers and most recently at the Huron Market.
Throughout his life, Dave enjoyed camping and going on fishing trips to Canada. In his earlier days he spent many years coaching baseball and had been a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Dave was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and the American Legion Post # 83.
He is survived by four sons, David (Bobbi) Davis, Jr., Scott (Sheri) Davis, Eric Davis all of Sandusky and Matt (Andrea) Davis of Lisbon, ND; five grandchildren, Adam, Lacy, Cody, Thane, Jarrett; two great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Cameron; brother, Delbert Davis of Sandusky; nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he also was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Judith F. (Crawford) Davis on January 10, 2011; two sons, Glenn and Guy Davis; daughter, Lori Davis; sister, Rosemarie Burns; brother, Kenneth "Mike" Davis.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012, from 4-8 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, April 17, 2012, at 10 am at the funeral home. Fr. Chris Kardzis of Holy Angels Catholic Church officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 83. At his request, cremation will take place following the services.
