Kenneth H. "Ken" Carico, 78, of Lakeside, OH passed away peacefully early Thursday evening, July 20, 2017, surrounded by his family in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Born on January 21, 1939, in Wise County, VA, the son of John Nathan and Nora (Moore) Carico. Over the years, Ken had owned and operated a SOHIO Gas Station on Cleveland Road, in Sandusky, then went on to work in sales for Sun Electric, before retiring. After retiring, he then owned and operated the Anchor Inn, in Oak Harbor, for over 20 years. Ken loved gardening, golfing and playing pool, but he especially loved his family and his great-grandchildren.
Ken was a member of the Port Clinton Moose Lodge #1610 (and Past Governor), life member of the Port Clinton Eagles Lodge Aerie # 2295, life member of the Sandusky Sons of V.F.W. Post # 2529, the Sandusky Sons of AMVETS Post #17, the Port Clinton Masonic Lodge and was a 32 Degree Mason, in Toledo.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Glesna A. (Williams) Carico; his two daughters, Susan L. Brough and Marnie F. (Joe) Zippay, both of Sandusky; and his son, Kristopher J. (Kim) Carico of Marblehead; 7 grandchildren, Brittany (Chris) Brough-Ruth, Dustin (Katie) Brough, Kaylah Carico, Savannah Carico, Andrea Carico, Sariah Carico and Lorin (Contessa) Zippay; 4 great-grandchildren, Caleb Ruth, Kennedy Zippay, Chezney Zippay and Coupe Zippay; and several nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters and 12 brothers.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, from 2-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, July 26, 2017, at 11 am at the funeral home. Rev. B. R. Hatfield and Rev. Wayne Meade officiating. Burial will be in Sackett Cemetery, in Danbury Twp., OH.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
