Jim was born in Bellevue, Ohio on October 15 ,1928. He attended Bellevue schools and participated in baseball, a sport that he enjoyed all of his life.
Jim was a life-long farmer and was blessed to work alongside his father and his son. As the proud owner of Dahs Farms and Dahs Trenching, he was a skilled mechanic; over his lifetime of machinery repairs some of his proudest achievements included the re-powering of a farm truck to Perkins diesel, the repair of numerous burned out combines, and the construction of a cabbage harvester of his own design. He enjoyed wood working and created numerous pieces of furniture and decorative items.
Throughout his life Jim was a lover of music - he played the guitar and loved to sing and yodel. He had a penchant for remembering song lyrics and always had a smile and a joke. He spent many Sundays with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at “Jim’s Bar”, singing country western songs, eating sweets, and watching Cleveland sports. Jim lived for his family - he was very proud of his children’s accomplishments and could always be found attending his grandchildren’s activities. He was a giant of a man in stature and personality and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his three children, Barbara A. (David) Kessler, Daniel J. (Lori) Dahs, and Christine R. Smith; 10 grandchildren, Katie, Ben, Jackie, Maddie, Tyler, Abbey, Max, Hannah, Jacob, and Samantha; and 13 great-grandchildren.
