Firelands Campus.  He was exceptionally proud of that accomplishment as he always stressed the importance of education to his children.
Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling with his family, taking them many places in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. His love of travel led to him being nicknamed, "Gypsy Dan" by his wife, as he would be willing to pack a suitcase as soon as someone suggested a trip.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus Third Degree Sandusky Council # 546 and the Fourth Degree Bishop Machebeuf General Assembly # 813, the American Legion Post # 83, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2529, the Catholic War Veterans and the Naval Minewarfare Association.
Dan is survived by three daughters, Pat (Frank) Perl of Helena, MT, Judi (Jeff) Horchler of Milan and Janice Beck of Huron with whom he resided with; and a son, Daniel (Gayla) Beck, Jr. of Santa Maria, CA; three grandchildren, Todd (Lisa) Horchler of Berlin Heights, Jesica (Matt Wiles) Perl and Andrew Perl of Helena, MT; three great-grandchildren, Pvt. 1st Class Jacob Horchler of Camp LeJeune, NC, Emma Horchler of Berlin Heights and Colton Wiles of Helena, MT; a sister, Eileen Norman of Sandusky; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends, especially Steve (Joyce) Brunow and Martin (Martha) Beverick.
