Concetta Spadaro, 88, of Sandusky, passed away January 6, 2012 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after an illness.
Born on June 17, 1923 in Modica, Sicily the daughter of the late Ignazio and Serafina (Digiacomo) Calabrese. Mrs. Spadaro had moved to the Sandusky area, from Italy, in February 1971. She worked with her sons at the Cedar Villa Restaurant from 1973 until 2005. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
She is survived by four sons; Ignazio (Rosalia) Spadaro, Giorgio (Lena) Spadaro, Giovanni (Teresa) Spadaro and Ercole Spadaro all of Sandusky; a daughter, Maria Luisa (Antonio) Gallaro of Sandusky; twelve grandchildren, Pete, Connie, Natalina, Concetta, Cristina, Mariella, Giovanni, Marco, Elisabeth, Giselle, Giovanni, Lisa; eleven great-grandchildren, Alyssia, Joseph, Brooke, Jasmine, Brayden, Matteo, Simona, Rocco, Milania, Giana, Luca and one on the way!; sister, Serafina in Italy; daughter-in-law, Angela J. Spadaro of Sandusky; sister-in-law, Elvira Calabrese of Sandusky; nephews, nieces and other relatives..
Besides her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Pietro Spadaro; son, Giuseppe Spadaro; brother, Michele Calabrese; sister, Maria Barone.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012, from 3 - 7 pm, in the Gathering Space of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A Rosary will be recited at 7 pm that evening in the Gathering Space. Prayers will be recited, on Tuesday morning, January 10, at 9:40 am in the Gathering Space followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in the Church. Fr. Marty Nassr officiating.
Entombment will be held in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
