Charles Joseph Pepitone

Charles J. "Joe" Pepitone, 72, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, July 26, 2017, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
   Born on April 7, 1945, in Sandusky, OH the son of August J. "Gus" and Anne Elizabeth (Johnson) Pepitone.  He had worked for 31 years at New Departure-Hyatt Inc. (a Division of General Motors) before retiring.  Joe was a true sportsman, enjoying hunting and camping with his family.  Over the years, he had been a race car fan, especially NASCAR and dirt track.  Joe also loved spending the winter months in Florida with his wife, Jody.  He was a member of the U.A.W. Local #913.
   Joe is survived by his son, Joseph C. Pepitone of Sandusky; two sisters, Phyllis (Paul) Andrews and Patricia "Patty" Price, both of Sandusky; a brother,  August "Gus" Pepitone II of Sandusky;  nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 52 years, Mary Jo "Jody" (Kaman) Pepitone (April 5, 2017).
   At his request, cremation has taken place.  No visitation or funeral services will be held.
