Albert Walter Windau

 Albert W. Windau, 95, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, August 17, 2017, in The Meadows at Osborn Park, in Huron.
   Born on February 17, 1922, in Sandusky, OH the son of Eugene Francis and Hilda (Riedy) Windau.   He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School.  Albert was a lifelong farmer having farmed in the Sandusky and Castalia area for many years.  He enjoyed his family, decorating and baking for the Holiday seasons, listening to music and reading.   Albert and his wife, Audrey, had volunteered at several organizations in the local area over the years.  
   He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a lifelong member of the the Y.M.C.A., Past Master of the Oxford and the Pomona Grange and a member of the Erie County and Margaretta Grange.
   Albert is survived by a son, Eugene (Mary Beth) Windau of Castalia; five daughters, Ann Windau of Bedford, Mary Alice Windau of Sandusky, Vicki (Richard) Van Ness of Castalia, Dorothy Windau of Sandusky and Christine (Roger) Stark of Castalia; 11 grandchildren, Marla (Jason) Stein, Tyghe (Deidre) Windau, Dustin (Abby) Windau, Jessica Van Ness, Kevin Van Ness, Amanda Fackler, Michael Windau, Makayla Windau, Marissa Windau, Spencer Stark and Josephine Stark; five great-grandchildren, Jake, Claire, Logan, Brayden and Landon; a sister, Lois Moll of Sandusky; a sister-in-law, Elsie Homegardner of Huron; and nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Audrey Ann (McLaughlin) Windau on May 12, 2009; two sisters, Rita Windau and Jeanne Kramer; a brother, Roland Windau; a sister-in-law, Marge Windau;  and two brother-in-laws, Karl Moll and Robert Kramer.
   Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, August 20, 2017, from 4-6 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Albert at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Joe Steinbauer officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
